Asia’s journey into dance began with a deep passion for learning more about the arts. Her first dance classes were held at The John Will Anderson Boys & Girls Club in Gary, IN under the instruction of former Emerson VPA grad Arnisha Fulton. Discovering this newly found passion in dance led her to audition for the only Performing Arts school in her region. While attending Emerson School for the Visual and Performing Arts in Gary, Asia honed her craft and developed her technique. While learning more about the field of dance Asia always stayed productive and began choreographing for many talent and live shows. Working with local artist Stephani Parker, and Chester Gregory (current Broadway sensation) “Hair Spray, Tarzan, & Dreamgirls” singer/actor/ dancer and also a former Emerson graduate were also building blocks in the development of her career.
After graduating from Emerson, Asia moved to New York City where she continued her dance training at The Alvin Ailey School. Since then, she has been immersed in the dance world with live & video performance, choreography, and instructing. In 2005, Asia re connected with recording artist Stephani “SPark” Parker, and together they have opened for artists such as Carl Thomas, Rachelle Farrell, Kirk Whalum, and Kindred the Family Soul. In returning to Gary Asia also choreographed many live shows and performances including sets for recording artists Blazed and DJ Unk, (Walk it Out, 2 step) Asia is also the current reigning Miss Gary, Indiana, and in 2009 on an episode of MTV’s “Made” Asia made her television debut as a MADE coach. Partnering with The West Side Theater Guild, Asia was the choreographer for their entire production Lyrics: Yesterday, Today, and Forever A Michael Jackson Tribute. This production returned August 2010 and became a traveling tour. Asia is currently a dancer for the Chicago Bulls. (LUVABULLS) She is also the choreographer at The West Side Theatre Guild www.thewestsidetheatreguild.com and continues to choreograph and instruct at The South Shore Centre’ for the Arts, where she teaches children’s ballet, hip hop, and jazz funk! www.southshoredance.org
